Welcome to Innovation

  • Midland ISD began the transformation process through the leadership of the School Board in November 2016.  At that time, the board participated in the initial training for Lone Star Governance conducted by the Texas Education Agency’s Deputy Commissioner of Governance, A.J. Crabill.  This training resulted in the board developing a Theory of Action.

Another Lone Star Governance workshop was held in January 2017 at which time district leadership worked with the Board in creating the student outcome board goals.  The student outcome goals were developed to provide the board oversight in focusing on the student first and foremost.

In Spring 2017, Midland ISD applied for and was accepted to participate in the inaugural cohort for the Texas Education Agency’s System of Great Schools Technical Network.  As one of eight districts around the state, the SGS Technical Network provided Midland ISD an opportunity to hear from districts across the nation about the actions they have taken to become “Systems of Great Schools”.  Additionally, the district gained the expertise of a nationally recognized Technical Advisor to assist in our transformational efforts.
