Kristen MurphyMy name is Kristen Murphy, and I am the counselor at Emerson Elementary. I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Kinesiology, both from Sul Ross State University, in Alpine, Texas. I have been in education for 30 years now, with 18 years spent in the junior high and high school classroom. I have been a counselor for 12 years and all 12 years have been spent as an Emerson Roadrunner! Having taught all levels, I’d have to say that I really enjoy the elementary level the most!! My hobbies include camping, kayaking, spending time with my family, and my work.
My work as the Emerson Counselor includes teaching monthly guidance lessons in classrooms, campus Homeless Liaison, individual counseling, and group counseling as needed. My services are generally short term, meaning I don’t do actual therapy sessions, but I am happy to give referrals to community agencies as needed. I am also the Emerson Roadrunner Sponsor and participate in community service events with the Roadrunners. If you feel your child would benefit from any of these services, please feel free to contact me.
