MISSION STATEMENT
The staff at Sam Houston Elementary shares a common vision: Excellence for all. As our central mission, we affirm that every child has a right to a quality education, that high academic standards must be set, and that every child can and will succeed in ways that reflect his or her own aptitudes and interests.

We have adopted the Basic School Philosophy utilizing The Basic School - A Community for Learning by Ernest Boyer.

Four priorities which are considered the essential building blocks of the school include:
1. The school as community
2. A curriculum with coherence
3. A climate for learning
4. A commitment to character

Additionally we have defined five sharply focused educational goals that our student will be able to:
1. Communicate effectively
2. Acquire a core of knowledge
3. Be a motivated learner
4. Feel a sense of well being
