Family Fun & Fitness Night, Tuesday, Oct. 17, 6:30-7:30
Bonham had over 141 students attend. Parents and students were gathered in the cafeteria for a short PTA meeting, then listened to presentations from COM Aquatics and a Nutrition Presentation. Then the parents and students rotated between 4 different activity stations: Portion Distortion; Go, Slow, Whoa Food Overview, Food Label Reading and a Hula Hoop Competition.
March 2, 2007, Fitness Friday included Jump Rope for Heart and school assemblies. |

During the 3rd grade PTA program, Coach Pipes and CNS Cafeteria Manager, Delma Alvarado provided CATCH information on nutrition and had a variety of fruit for the parents and students to sample. Thank you Mr. Duron, HEB produce manager, for providing the fruit. |

Fannin Elementary will host their annual Bike Fair on April 27 during the students' PE/Music time. Parents are encouraged to ride with the students. |

DeZavala Elementary CATCH Events
CATCH/Math Night, Thursday, October 26, 2006.
DeZavala had fantastic attendance for this event. Students and parents visited 19 different stations. Some of the PE activities included: jump rope, pulls ups, snack bingo, Math "GO" exercises. The school nurse provided blood pressure checks. Grand door prizes included a basket of groceries and 2 bicycles. |

Scharbauer CATCH Team |
Scharbauer Elementary CATCH Events
On October 10, 2006 Scharbauer held their "Wild for Math Night." The CATCH team manned thier booth - "Don't Feed the Animals Unhealthy Snacks". They provided healthy snacks and gave parents information on portion control, "Go, Slow, and Whoa" foods and recipes for healthy snacks.
On November 8, 2006, the school participated in the School Walk for Diabetes. The students walked, learned about diabetes and raised $1900 for the American Diabetes Association. B93 radion station had a live remote on February 2 and interviewed several students during the Scharbauer Pep Rally honoring those who partipated in the walk. On February 5, the station played more clips from the rally. This was great media coverage and a wonderful way to present information about what our schools are doing to help the fight against diabetes.
The Spring CATCH Event will be a Family Activity Day with their community partner and Keep Midland Beautiful. |

Pease Elementary CATCH Events
CATCH Night, January 23, 2007. The 5th and 6th grade students presented information on healthy food choices and activity to over 350 parents and students.
The Fall CATCH Night at Pease was a multimedia event with examples of GO, SLOW and WHOA activities. |
Milam 1st Grade PTA Program |
Milam Elementary CATCH Events
On February 6, 2007, the first graders at Milam Elementary presented their program, "Stay Active." Speakers promoted the importance of eating fruits and vegetables and staying active. The students involved the audience in several physical activities set to music.
On April 24th, Milam will be hosting another CATCH Family Fun Night.

Jane Long Elementary CATCH Events
Jane Long held their Family Health Fair on April 10, 2007. Information and health screenings were provided by American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, Wal-Mart Vision Center and American Cancer Association. Activity stations included deciphering nutrition labels, jump rope, basketball, trampoline jump and other activities. |

Jones Elementary CATCH Events
Jones will be hosting "CATCH Country" on April 24. Students will be showcasing their line dancing and square dancing and vocal skills.
In December, the Jones CATCH event included information sessions on physical activiy and nutrition.
Johnna Crossland, RN and Keish Kemp, LVN have organized a very success staff wellness program and have implemented "The Weigh Down Success" program. |
