Free & Reduced Price Meals

Midland Independent School District offers free or reduced-price meals for children of families whose income is at or below guideline levels. Families may apply at any time during the school year. Any student approved for free and reduced-price meals at the end of last school year may continue to receive free and reduced-price meals for 30 operating days after school starts while the new application for meal benefits is being reviewed.

A letter containing valuable information about the Midland Independent School District meal program and the application for the free or reduced-price meals will be mailed to households in August. Parents are encouraged to turn in the application to the Child Nutrition Services Department as soon as possible.

Foster children are also eligible for the benefits. A separate application must be filled out for each foster child. In the operation of child feeding programs, no child will be discriminated against because of race, sex, color, national origin, age or disability.

If a parent is dissatisfied with the District’s decision regarding an application or the results of verification, the parent must first discuss the concern with the reviewing official before requesting a hearing. Call 689-1529. A fair hearing may then be requested by calling or writing:
