The Breakfast Express program provides students and their teachers with a complimentary breakfast in the classroom setting.
Currently there are 30 MISD campuses participating in the program. They are Abell, Alamo, Goddard, San Jacinto, Bonham, Bowie, Bunche, Burnet, Bush, Carver, Crockett, DeZavala, Emerson, Fannin, Henderson, Houston, Jones, Lamar, Long, Milam, Parker, Pease, Rusk, Santa Rita, Scharbauer, South, Travis, Washington and West.
Other campuses are encouraged to participate. Breakfast is an excellent way to prepare students for the challenging day ahead.
Federal funds help support the program. Studies show students who eat wholesome breakfasts have a number of advantages over children who do not, including:
1. Increased attention span
2. Improved ability to learn
3. Fewer discipline problems
4. Higher test scores
All breakfasts include milk, juice and an entree.
A nutritious breakfast can make the most of a student’s abilities in the classroom, in addition to contributing to improved long-term health and wellness.
