Overview of the Department

It is the mission of the Midland ISD Communications Department to act as an effective liaison between the community and the school district. The Department of Communications conducts the District's community and media relations programs.

MEDIA RELATIONS

The Communications Department is responsible for all media requests. All media inquiries should be directed to Midland ISD Director of Communications Woodrow Bailey.

SCHOOL CLOSINGS

School closings and late starts will be announced on local media networks and the Midland ISD website.

DISTRICT WEBSITE

The Midland ISD website is maintained by the Communications & Technology departments. Campus webmasters also work with the district webmaster to make certain that all campus websites meet district standards for content and display.

DISTRIBUTION OF NON-SCHOOL RELATED INFORMATION

Requests to distribute nonschool related literature and/or information intended for multiple recipients on district premises must submit a Request to Distribute Flyers form to the Communications Department.

Any flyer submitted for approval must include the following disclaimer printed at the bottom:

MISD is not responsible for and does not endorse, the contents of any non-school literature that may be distributed on Midland ISD campuses as a service to students and families.

E-mail Communications
The Department of Communications conducts the District's community and media relations programs. Programs include Key Communicators, publications, boundary maps, audio and video informational products, press conferences, and the District Web site.

The Department of Communications also includes the MISD Printshop, which prints the award-winning employee newsletter each month.
